The Living Wage for Families Campaign is glad to see the move to a $15 an hour minimum wage in BC but also know that we need to continue to close the gap between the minimum wage and the living wage.
We need to keep this campaign going strong and are looking for folks who would be interested in writing blog posts, creating content for social media and tabling at events. In addition, one of this years projects is in partnership with the Justice on our Campuses campaign. This campaign is advocating for a living wage for direct and contracted workers. Please indicate whether you are specifically interested in that campaign with a check mark in the field below!
Info on Roles
Blog: Blog posts are an opportunity to share your story and help us generate an online following. They are usually fairly brief, with an absolute max of 1000 words. Some possible topics are: policy, low-wage work, work-place issues, poverty, job precarity and how to include living wage into HR policies but we are open to your ideas.
Social media content: Creating social media/shareable content is a great opportunity to use these skills to build the movement towards living wages. We are looking for attention grabbing creations that can be posted to Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram.
Tabling: We need people to table at community events and union conventions. We provide the reading material, buttons, stickers and more. There are opportunities to participate in creating an enticing table with an interactive set-up!
Your Ideas: If you have ideas and energy for other projects and initiatives, we would be interested to hear about them. You are our greatest resource. There is also the possibility of creating a volunteer committee!
Justice on our Campuses: The opportunities are endless. We will connect you with the team to find out more!
Thank you for your time and interest!
