Kelowna business becomes BC's latest certified Living Wage Employer

Inter-Mtn. Enterprises is the premier supplier of signs and specialty products to North America’s outdoor recreation industry. As a result of conducting business where there is a higher cost of living, the company made the conscious commitment to compensate their staff and contracted workers with a living wage responsive to Kelowna’s environment.

“We’re delighted that Inter-Mtn. Enterprises Inc has committed to paying their staff a Living Wage. It will help give visibility to such an important issue and will highlight the campaign with others in the sector. We invite other employers to join the Living Wage movement,” said Anastasia French, Living Wage for Families BC.

Certifying as a Living Wage Employer is a voluntary commitment employers make to invest in their communities and local economies. There are over 250 Living Wage Employers in BC, with over 30,000 employees who don’t need to worry about how they will afford rent, food, and other essentials for their family because they are guaranteed to earn a Living Wage. This remuneration is the hourly amount a family needs to cover basic expenses. This calculation is determined by a two-parent household with two children — the most common family unit in BC —with each parent working full-time.
